Big Brother Nominations

Big Brother Nominations occur once a week. It is when the Head of Household chooses 2 players who have the potential to get voted out of the Big Brother House.

Two houseguests go on the block every week, and the Head of Household decides which two. Nominations are the moment the week stops being theoretical — somebody is leaving on Thursday, and these are the names in front of the house. Every nomination ceremony of the season is below, newest first, written from the live feeds as it happened.

When is the nomination ceremony?

The nomination ceremony is held on Friday, the day after the Head of Household is crowned. The live feeds are cut while it happens, then come back with two houseguests already on the block and the rest of the house working out what it means. The nominees stay on the block until the veto ceremony on Monday, and the eviction follows on Thursday.

Who can be nominated on Big Brother?

  • Anyone except the Head of Household. The HOH is safe for their own week and cannot be nominated.
  • Anyone the HOH names, including an ally, a have-not, or somebody nominated the week before. There is no rule against going up two weeks running.
  • Not somebody already holding safety. A power won earlier in the season can take a houseguest off the table before the ceremony even starts.

More than two nominees is unusual but not rare. Several seasons have run three, and the rules for it are covered on the nominations guide.

What is a pawn?

A pawn is the nominee who is not the target — somebody the Head of Household puts up expecting the house to keep them, so the vote has a safe place to go. It is the oldest move in the game and it goes wrong constantly. The house has a phrase for it: pawns go home. Why it keeps happening is covered on the strategies page.

Can nominations change?

Yes, and they usually do. The Power of Veto is played on Saturday and can pull one nominee off the block at Monday’s ceremony, which forces the Head of Household to name a replacement. That replacement never got to play for the veto, which is what makes the backdoor work.

Big Brother 28 Week 11 in Review: Drew Holds the Last Vote

Seven houseguests started the week and four are left. The double eviction took Barrett and Yash, Devens broke a 1–1 tie to send Melody to the jury on Monday, and Taylor won the final four Head of Household. Drew won the last veto, so tonight he casts the only vote, and his options are Dee and Devens. Plus the Wall: Devens had his best week since July, and Drew passed Dee for the first time since early September.

8:43pm – 9:10pm Kitchen – Drew and Dee
Drew – are you cooking it with love? Dee – yeah. Drew – Why does it look like hate? Dee – No dude. No, no, no I’m doing it with love. I’m doing it with the same love that Taylor does it with just not as much. Final Four Dinner. See we can survive. Don’t worry I’ll cook for you, if you keep me.

Devens in the havenot room making his bed.. He then joins Dee and Drew in the kitchen. Devens – We did a lot today.. Nomination Ceremony, Eviction, HOH and Nominations. Drew – I feel like the next couple days is just going to be us three hanging out and like her (Taylor) up in there listening to music. Devens – yeah I think its possible. Drew – we’re definitely going to have a host for the veto. Devens – Maybe. Drew – Unless you want to do like double shift it.. like I’ll host and I’ll play. Devens – Ok!

5:25pm Backyard – Drew and Melody
Melody – With the weird curse thing (from Devens pushing the button and winning 10k he unleashed a curse), if you win the veto, you probably can only use it on yourself. And then it doesn’t even matter because like I forgot Taylor was like remember.. They were the only people that will be safe is head of household and whoever wins the veto.. so like noms don’t even really f**king matter because everyone’s gonna play in the veto anyway. Drew – 4th time for you and me. Melody – Do you think we’re gonna go up together? Drew – Of course. Melody – Seriously. Melody – He’s not gonna put up Taylor. Drew – probably put me and you. Melody – Oh my God. Drew – You thought you were going to not go up? Melody – No, I figured. I figured it would be me and you before like you and Taylor or me and Taylor. Drew – Yeah. Be the three option. Melody – The 3, obviously. Drew – yeah. I don’t know. I wonder what this twist thing is, all I know is I wanna win this f**king veto.

Tonight is a double eviction — seven houseguests become five. Yash won his first Head of Household and used it to nominate three of his own side. Drew answered by standing in the Pressure Cooker for fourteen hours and nineteen minutes, cutting a deal at two in the morning to win it, and leaving Taylor in the seat he vacated. By midweek Barrett was asking the two Icons he nominated last Friday to keep him, and being told the doors weren’t closed — which is not the same as being told yes. Plus the Wall’s cleanest result of the season: every Icon up, every newbie down, seven for seven.

Saturday morning and the veto draw has gone the Icons’ way: Devens tells Dee “we’re both playing in a veto,” which puts Yash’s two bribe partners in the Pressure Cooker alongside all three nominees — and leaves Taylor as the only one not competing. The pair spend the morning war-gaming prizes and punishments, wishing for a guest host, and admitting the season has produced nothing so far but a Paw Patrol puzzle. Dee also explains the balcony.

Barrett – I love you all! Dee – Still love you. Devens – We love you too. There is game and then there’s personal. You’re a beautiful, beautiful man who we love very much. Drew – unfortunately though, I do think they’re telling the truth. Yash is definitely lying. But if he (Yash) wins we’re definitely cooked! Like for sure. Dee – we tried to tell you before noms but you guys didn’t f**king listen. Drew – but its okay, at least we know where Yash is at. Angela – He (Yash) can be the renom. Yash – I can be. Dee – But he could also win and take himself out. Angela – that’s true but only one of us goes home and everyone will see that he is a liar next week if he were to stay and win. Big Brother 28 Week 8 in Review: The Week the Feeds Went Dark

The feeds went dark on Thursday night and came back on Saturday afternoon to a greyed-out photo, a Head of Household already crowned and a block already set. Haley was gone, eliminated by a four-contest medieval gauntlet with no vote, no nomination ceremony and nothing on camera — the house has not talked it through out loud since. Drew won his first HOH and nominated the three players who had spent Week 7 saying they wanted the Icons out. Yash won the veto and used it on himself, and Devens volunteered for the empty seat before anyone asked him. Now Barrett is quietly counting votes to blindside him, Dee cannot decide whether she can pull the trigger, and Devens is telling the two people organising it that he feels too comfortable. Devens, Lala and Taylor play the Blockbuster tonight, and whoever loses the vote opens the jury.

Dee won her second Head of Household and spent $5,000 buying the one player who was hunting her. Six days later that player is organising the group that wants to blindside her, the target she has been naming all week is not the target, and Barrett has told Melody and Mallory outright that he and Drew have been with the Icons since the start. Drew, Taylor and Mallory play the Blockbuster tonight.

Lala – I am going to tell you this.. I’m going to tell you again .. They’re f**king liars. Ask them what they said if they let you into jury. Because ask what their answer was for that because if you can tell that I wouldn’t vote I don’t wouldn’t vote for Dee to get the money. She already has money I wouldn’t get until I was like sh*t. If she get to last she deserves it and I believe her deserve the f**king money because if she got to the last two give her the money. Yes she deserves it because she played her a$$ off this is bullsh*t. Drew is a f**king bullsh*t liar. I’m sorry, Melody and Mallory, just that’s not what I said. She said she was going to do the three people. I said you’re a f**king liar. You said icons out of your mouth. You said Dee, Devens and Angela. I never said Angela’s name. I never said Dee’s name. Ever, ever. Because that’s not what I do. And when the tapes play back, you’ll see it, because that’s not what it was about at all. And as I said, it was Deven’s and I took Devens .. he was on the table. I have no reason to lie about it. Dee – and that’s what I said too. I’ve lied too.. Everything is out on my end. Lala – bottom line is .. I am really dumbfounded that these people are looking at me and then prepared to say, oh, you said I could. Did I say angels name, Barrett, did I say Angela’s name?
